We’re a team of experts in technology, healthcare, and revenue cycle management, focused on building AI-powered solutions that ease the administrative burden on providers and streamline operations for coding teams. When traditional Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) and rules-based NLP tools fell short, the physician organizations at Mass General Brigham took matters into their own hands—building what would become CodaMetrix.

Founded in 2019, CodaMetrix evolved from a homegrown solution developed by the Massachusetts General Physician Organization’s billing office to code complex, multispecialty cases. Today, our CMX CARE^TM platform reflects that origin: purpose-built by providers, for providers. We believe doctors should spend more time practicing medicine—not coding it—and coders should have technology that helps them focus where their expertise is needed most.

Today’s Challenges in Medical Coding

Medical codes are at the center of all reimbursement models.

Codes ultimately determine the payment amounts for patient care.

Today, 20-25% of U.S. healthcare spending is wasted on administrative and revenue cycle tasks. Coding is the most expensive component of revenue cycle. Automating the coding function is a critical step in re-imagining healthcare reimbursement models.

In the not-too-distant future, machines will code most cases autonomously and with greater accuracy.

In the near term, however, professional coders will be the human-in-the-loop to code complex and unique cases. This hybrid process will continuously learn and improve automation and quality. Quality Assurance (QA) and compliance steps will ensure timely intervention to deal with outlier cases.
